Christmas in El Paso

Pictures of the family! The big kids came to EP for the holidays. Jeffrey and family for Christmas & Jen and family for New Years! Snapped some great pictures of the little ones having fun! I did however, on accident delete the New Years Eve pictures of Ethan with all of his poppers and confetti! I’m still upset over that – but that’s what happens when I get in a hurry to make more room on the camera. (Note to Santa, I need a new ScanDisk card for my camera! And hopefully before next Christmas.)

Most pics need no explanation – it’s just the kids… well, being our kids. But the sock picture is for Granny (or I should say the picture in Christmas pj’s with all the heads cut off!) And yes, we still do matching Christmas pj’s. I think I’m the only one who enjoys that at this point; but I think it’s fun to see us all matching on Christmas Eve and the big kids do indulge me and don’t complain…too much!

Enjoy great-grandparents (and aunts, uncles, and cousins) !! We missed you all!

Beautiful sunset after weird sand storm…

What can I say… the weather is El Paso still freaks me out sometimes. I did not expect the wind and sand storms. It’s very interesting and better than a tornado, I guess. After the sand cleared out yesterday, we had a beautiful sunset. I love this shot because it shows the redness of the sky and the moon at the same time.

Airshow fun!

This weekend, Fort Bliss in El Paso hosted a huge airshow. It was quite interesting and entertaining. From the Mariachi band to the paratroopers to the F22 Raptor flyby – we had a great time. We even got to see a school bus race a jet plane. Not sure who won, but it was a close race. Needless to say, this was no ordinary school bus! We saw all sorts of planes, helicopters, & other military vehicles. Emily even got to go inside a hummer to work the machine gun. We saw a Boy Scout corvette, the Miller Lite cheerleaders, and even a friendly grasshoppper. It was a fun-filled family Saturday!!

These were taken at church – tried to get a few of everyone “all dressed up” and without food in their mouths from the potluck! The food was wonderful and we appreciated all the hard work & planning on Alex’s behalf. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful family – so many aunts, uncles, & cousins to make everything so special.

Big news! We’re down to the last week of Alex’s mission! Can’t believe two years have gone by. We are getting really, really, really excited!! Can hardly keep from jumping up and down all day! Guess we’d better get his room ready – it’s become the “storage” room in his absence. Now where are we going to put all that stuff?

We’ll be heading to KY to pick Alex up! The big kids are meeting us there. Jeffrey, Chemenn & Lincoln will be driving from TN, Jennifer, Mike, & Ethan will be driving from Jersey. So we’ll have all 4 kids & their families all together for the first time in years!!! We’re so excited to see the grandsons, too. Boy, it’s no fun living so scattered around.

Field Trip!

Fun times! I was the official 6th grade “water boy” today for Emily’s school field trip to Western Playland. I walked around all day holding all the water bottles, sun screen, stuffed animals, & purses. Of course I had to snap a few pictures! Emily loved the rides and had a great time. And even though it was no Kings Island, it was a very nice day and it was fun watching the kids having so much fun!

I am so glad I was not there! Jen and family recently took a weekend trip to enjoy some of the newly fallen NY snow. And Ethan, snowboarder in training had a great time! Check out these pictures…

Well it’s January 11th and I am just now getting around to updating my blog with all the Christmas festivities… So much for my “staying on top of things” resolution. Oh well, I knew it was a long shot anyway!

This Christmas was a blast with all the kids home…almost all were home, Alex is still tracting away in the Philippines. But he was definitely in our thoughts and we did get to talk to him on Christmas Eve. So that was great! Below are some shots of the grandsons playing, munching, watching movies, and of course with Santa!

Bert and Granny Visit El Paso!

Robert and Mom both visited us here in El Paso a few weeks ago! Mom was bringing Emily back from her summer stay in KY and Robert decided to make the trip from the West Coast to see us all. It was such fun, although we haven’t really found many exciting things to do in El Paso yet. But it was good have Em home and visit with Mom and little brother!

Time to catch up on the boys! Seems these two little tots are growing so fast, I’m having a really hard time keeping up with their adventures and travels. Here’s a few cute pics of all the fun happening in and around Jersey City and in Nashville…and beyond!

This first picture is of Ethan’s trip to the beach on Labor Day. Just too much fun! He needed a little siesta!
